Macdowell Month

Updated: Feb 22, 2021

Hi Everyone!

The Rho chapter is very excited to announce the celebration of Macdowell month. To honor and embrace each of our individual’s creativity, we have decided to plan a sisterhood painting session. I know this will unleash our inner artistic skills in all of us. Macdowell month has taught our chapter that art is not only about creating something perfect but also about making something that is very meaningful to us. Creativity comes in various forms of arts which can be expressed through painting, music, acting, performing and so much more. We are honored and extremely excited to share and learn the many talents of our sisters!!

History background

Macdowell month has been influenced by the Macdowell Colony which is a primary contemporary arts organization. The Macdowell Colony helps support the uprising and new artist by bringing diverse, versatile talent to share ideas and create art. The Macdowell Colony was established in 1907 by Marian Macdowell to inspire and increase the creativity and expression in American Culture. Macdowell has helped support 8100 artists both women and men worldwide. The mission of the Macdowell Colony is"to nurture the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination."
